The following is a great 9 Day Portugal Itinerary that focuses on the northern portion of the country.
For a country that barely ranks in the top twenty European countries by land area, Portugal has quite a lot to explore. For a 7 – 10 day vacation, an itinerary should either explore the northern parts of the country (Porto and Douro Valley) or the southern portion of the country (Algarve).
This itinerary starts in Lisbon and moves north. The time in the cities is generally fast-paced and filled with the culture and sights of urban Portugal. As the itinerary moves towards the Douro Valley and Porto, the pace becomes more leisurely to enjoy the rural sites.
